Okay I pay my contract every month, not the same time but November's payment get paid in full in November etc. No worries and have been doing so for about 5 years now.

Yearend is always a bugger up even when there is money. End of 2012 was very bad for me and I didn't get all my pay (long story...), I paid most of the angry people (MFC, Edgars, Woolies & the CC's ofcourse ;)).
Vodacom was missed.

Again, in the past I have missed a monthly payment but paid asap, usually with outgoing calls blocked (you phone me, I can't phone you back, right) - the grace period was about till middle next month, then the service got suspended and you get rerouted to VC to make arrangements etc. (happened to me once in July).

I paid November, no worries. Missed December (eish) but decided, that going on previous years' doings I can pay once I get back to work (today).
HA!

Trying to phone 121 I get a "Not registered on network" error message (not voice prompt).
Phoning myself I get "The number does not exist" message.
I can't even log into the Vodacom website!!!

I can visit a Vodacom4U store tomorrow but hell, this is the first time they've been this aggro.

Jip but then again, that record is very very yucky at the moment...

Just curious as to why I do not exist on the network all of the sudden, yet in the past could pay almost at my leisure?

Hi...I have checked on the number you have sent to me via PM. The numbers on your account have been deleted and the account handed over to collections.

I have sent you advice on how to proceed from here. I suggest you make this your highest priority for tomorrow before the account goes to legal.

Thanks Ockie. Advice taken and will make a visit to the Vodashop my #1 priority tomorrow.

Eish on 3 things here:

1) New sim card...
2) Account goes to legal = poop stain on my Credit Record that'll take more than 6 months to clear
3) Paying bills for Dec/Jan is way more important than I thought...

Lesson learned.

maybe its time to move to a new network. im sure cell c will offer better value and may help your budget in the future....

What happened to the process they are supposed to follow? Eg. sending the client a letter of demand and then give them a chance to contact the creditor and make an arrangement to pay.

Were all the steps followed? Seems drastic to cut off the account for being one month in arrears without notification. If that is the case, you may want to question this with Vodacom and if needed refer the case to the NCR or credit ombudsman.

SMS's have been sent to OP since the 23rd November 2012 with last warning SMS being on 01/01/2013 before hard lock was done on 03/01/2013. I count 4 SMS's that was sent in total. Vodacom accounts to my knowledge were also open and it is a free call from your cellphone to make arrangements.

Been to Vodacom store - all explained but still quite unhappy with Vodacom's actions in this matter.

1) I have to get a new SIM (done) and send documentation in for reactivation (done) - effectively being re-evaluated by Vodacom for 'affordability'

2) Phone never was "Hard Locked" - got Soft Locked and then Deleted, and now Pre-Legal!

3) No communication in form of letters nor phone calls to warn of situation as would expect (Edgars, RCS, Woolworths etc. get on the phone quite quick if you pay late).

Have to wait for VC to call and arrange the Reactivation. If refused, I will take legal action - my contract was renewed middle last year without a snag or query, thus making me believe VC was happy with my situation.

no argument there. though the additional value from lower call rates at cell c should definitely help his budget...

Well, this is my last contract with Vodacom. Will go over to prepaid once this contract runs it's course.

Unfortunately Vodacom is too much like ABSA now, longterm clients mean zero to them...
