Did you take leave from work over Easter?

I am taking leave on the 24th. So with the following Monday being a public holiday, I have another 'Easter weekend' coming up

One of my neighbours 'celebrated' Latin Easter in SA, then flew to Eastern Europe, where the Orthodox Easter is a week later...

Yes but only because my timeshare fell during this past week...

I took lifelong leave after more than 40 years at the same company as of the 1st of April 2024, so no additional leave taking was necessary for this Easter. Funny thing, I started to work at the company on Thursday 6th of October and immediately had a long weekend when we still had Kruger Day on the 10th of October, which was the following Monday.

I ended my career at the company also with a long weekend, which was the Easter weekend, Friday 29 March - Monday 1 April 2024.

Name checks out

As a self employed kwagga I work too much... for the first time in a long time I did almost no work over the long weekend. As a result, by Saturday afternoon I was feeling like "ag tomorrow is Monday and the new week starts" meantime there were still two more "off" days. lol.

Felt weird.

Should do it more often.

Took the kids to see Kruger Park and then spent some time in Sabie. They had not properly experienced Kruger. Was a great trip!

Hows things looking that side after all the rains earlier this year?

We went in via the two southern gates on our day visits (stayed in Marloth). Tar roads we tried were all open and I would say about half the dirt roads were closed but it did not impact us much as there are so many other options nearby in the South. We just drove to the next road. My sister was there the same period with her daughter in the north and had a terrible time. The whole Pafuri loop was closed, and she could essentially only drive a single tar road back and forth from the camp they stayed at. Very limited viewing.

Some specifics of our route: From Crocodile bridge up to Lower Sabie and beyond to the great picknick site just north of that was great. Saw great game. Similar for Malelane gate up to Pretorius Kop. A few closed roads but lots of other options. Over the two days we saw all the big 5 other than Leopard but did see a Cheetah and wild dog. Amazing bird life too with plenty of raptors. Even saw a pearl spotted owl which was awesome. Only oddity was I did not see any Jackals or Hyena. Recall seeing a lot more of those when I visited Kruger as a kid. Perhaps it was just the time of year though as the grass was fairly green and long so Jackal could have been all over and just invisible to us. As a child I think we mostly went in July.

I'm doing the same, didn't take any leave around easter. But my birthday is end of April so I usually take off around end of the month. Took off from the 24 to the 4th of May. So 2 long weekends with the week in between off.
