difference between android 2.3 and 2.2 on desire hd

I just ungraded to android 2.3 on my DHD

Not sure what the difference is?
It looks faster and smoother but other than whats the difference visually and performance wise?

You should see a notable difference in battery life. I'm getting 1 more day out of my battery life. Other small visual tweaks, but nothing to right home about. Then again, its only a minor release.

Expect to see more with the next major release (3.0)

Well ive tested my battery, from fully charged from 8am to 3pm next day im in the red (you can get better results using some other custom roms ofc)

This was during a period of moderate usage, i had lectures and studying etc... using edge for mxit/whatsapp every so often

I notice that since I have the new upgrade my gmail doesnt sync properly
Also my internet connection doesnt seem to work irrespective of whether I am on 3g or wifi
wifi is cellc
sim card is virgin

any advice?

Tell me, where did you get the update? My HD is out of space, and would like to do a format and upgrade. Was this done from a ROM, or how did you upgrade? Any help appreciated!
