Difference between PPPoE and PPPoA?

pppoa is used for creating ppp links over ATM networks and pppoe is used for creating ppp links over Ethernet networks. telkom only use pppoe on their adsl network.

Is there some sort of performance benifit? Beside that PPPoE gives you non-fixed Ip's.. or can you have fixed Ip's on both PPPoE and PPPoA?
