Difference between TP-LINK W8960N and TP-LINK W8961ND?

Or should i just go with a super cheap adsl modem(which one?) and get the TP-LINK WR1043ND flashed with DD-WRT?

I having endless issues with my netgear dg834DG v5, constantly having to restart the thing to restore wireless to my macs. Absolute pain in the butt. Besides the wireless issues, I've also been having the occasional disconnect as my 4meg noise margin is around 11.5.

So basically i need improved adsl stability as well as fast and stable wireless performance for all the hd files i'm moving over the network. Built in printer support wouldn't hurt too but that isn't really a big factor.

Thanks for the help :)

I have the W8960N (thanks to a MyBB prize) and I'm very satisfied. I have my main 2 PC's connected via ethernet cables, my 2 kids PC's via wireless and my ipad2 (now = my wife's ipad2) all connected....

What speeds are you getting when transferring movies over wireless?

Will have to ask my kids... box says 300Mbps...
Yeah i'm wondering if its closer to 1 MB/s or 20MB/s. :)

The 300Mbps number is just marketing, all routers give different real world numbers.

also got the netgear dg834DG v5, but have the occasional issue. looking at a better router myself. would like to know which 1 is the best value for money right now.

A Dlink2500U adsl router keeps my adsl stable and a simple scoop sourced 300mbit wireless AP with hi gain antennae keeps the laptops, phones and consoles happy. And a 8port gigabit switch for the wired devices. R199+R250+R199. Used to have endless trouble with the all-in-one telkom adsl wireless router.

Having them separate allows you to have the wireless AP in the center of the desired coverage area for best coverage.

I'm thinking of just going with the TP-LINK WR1043ND since the real world wireless performance at a far distance is slightly faster. I obviously also like DD-WRT and its extensibility.

Has anyone here ever got the printer server function in dd-wrt to work with this router?

How is it it to setup, and is it reliable? Will it work easily with mac?
