I would like to know what download speeds are expected on
365 (or whatever it is)
512
4mb line?

I got the 4mb line and get around 300kbps on the telkom speed test... everything else is normally something retarded like 20kbs. I would love to know the real speads I should be expecting. Also what the real differences between the lines are... so what the download speeds are on those lines.

Im on 384, can get up to about 40 KBps; I've heard of 50 KBps on 512 and 400 KBps on 4096 but havent been able to confirm the latter two.

Keep in mind that while you may be paying for a 4 Mb line, the line will usually be set to a speed that is most stable for your situation with a maximum of 4 Mb and minimum of 1 Mb. So best to check what speed your router syncs at, maybe divide that by about 10 and you should get a very rough estimate.

Why 10 ? Well, theoretically you divide by 8 but practice has taught that I have *never* obtained 48 KBps or anything even close on my line. Highest sustained was maybe just over 40 KBps.

You can check the different profiles for 4 Mb lines here, near the bottom of the page.

Ok ive had all 3 lines.. on 384 i used to download constant at 41KBps.. and Upload at 15KBps.

on my 512, i used to download at 54KBps, and upload at 24KBps.

On my 4 meg now.. downloading from say microsoft... goes at 440KBps.. but on torrents i don't generally see higher than 410KBps, and news server 400KBps. And Upload tops out at abt 40KBps...

Hope that helps.. those are the actual speeds i used to get.. and as loot says check wat speed your synched at :) cause its up to 4

Also, if you get an uncapped account those will limit your speed. So its pointless getting a 4Mb line and a 384k uncapped, because you will only surf @ 384k.
