Different varieties of potatoes

So I just watched a program on BBC Food about potatoes and the great many varieties available in the UK.
They discussed about 10 different types of potatoes,and according to Wikipedia there is about 100 different varieties.

So I'm tired of walking to Woolies, Pick & Pay, Spar, Checkers etc. and I have to pick from the daily special they have on the shelves.

Were can I get the specific potato I need apart from going to the UK.

Good luck - the potato selection in SA is truly sad - I really miss Idaho russets.

Maybe try growing your own?

Yes it's infuriating isn't it. As i mentioned on the other thread about roast potatoes you get 2 types of potatoe- well 3 if you count "new" baby ones plus Floury, and Waxy. Our potatoes are heavily waxy and taste nothing like our northern Cousins- in Idaho (US) Ireland and the UK. BP1 is our most common potatoe . I have no idea why.

The potato supply chain in SA is heavily controlled mainly for disease control.

These guys are really good and super nice too.

At checkers they have those bags which say good for roast and bake, boil and mash etc. but I doubt there's much difference between them.

Kocking at around 750 000 - 1 100 000 SHU (Tabasco chillis are 30 000) you need to learn to respect this chilli. It is used traditionally to keep elephants aways from veggie gardens in India, where the mashed fruits are rubbed on the fence posts surrounding the gardens. Elephants with their sensitive sense of smell stay away.

Requires heat to germinate. Not a chilli for novices..... of any kind.
