What do you guys think of digiserv.biz - are they okay ?

I've used them for about 5 years now and my experience with them is mostly good. I have 1 Windows 2003 hosting with them and 3 linux hostings with them. I've also used their ASDL options so it was nice to have ADSL and Hosting all from one company.

The Good:

• Fast Linux Servers (baed in the UK)
• Linux hosting has CPanel and Fantastico
• Linux hosting is cheap which includes MySQL
• Good technical support (4 hour response time)
• Efficient billing

The Bad:

• Windows Hosting is slowish (based in Texas)
• SQL Lite 3 is not enabled in PHP (so you can't use SQLite3 PDO). They say its for performance reasons
• Linux has No Ruby Support
• Windows Hosting mail server doesn't have IMAP support

In general I would say they are one of the better hosting companies in South Africa. Yes, their hosting is based overseas (you can opt for local hosting), but there aren't many that will beat their pricing, especially when it comes to hosting that will include their database hosting.

Their ADSL hosting pricing was not the cheapest but pretty much on par with the other ISP's.

I want to start using Ruby and SQLite and if I find that SQLite2 is too old fashioned i may have to move my hosting elsewhere to a company that does support it.

It all depends on what you want to use Digiserv for.
