A view has been expressed by Discovery Bank clients that we are ready to move to a fully Digital Banking scenario in about 2027. This would also mean that we would not use cash at all. This view does not take into account that a large part of our South African population is not "banked" at all for various reasons & uses cash all the time.
For example my gardener (and many like him from Malawi for example) wants cash each time.
If one reads the book about KasieEconomics you will see that many people in the Townships still use cash a lot.
I do not see this changing in the next few years
