Hi,

I'm looking for a Digital Camera that has GPS capabilities. It doesn't have to be fancy, we just need to be able to track the location of photo that has been taken. I know the Samsung Galaxy Camera is a decent option, but what other alternatives are there?

This is for the company I'm working for and I am unfortunately working with a budget. They said R3500, but I'm not sure I can get something for that cheap.

Thanks

I just use a gps logging app on my phone then it's a simple matter to marry the location data to the photos, as long as the time is synced on both devices.

Cannon S100 should do the trick and fall in your budget seeing as the S110 has replaced it (may have to hunt for the last stock).

There are some issues though.
1) The GPS takes a while to sort itself out, so if you power it on, take a quick shot then power it down again chances are you won't get the coordinates.
2) It kills the battery chop-chop, so make sure you buy a spare.

A smartphone is a great idea these days, but we need a decent camera and any phone with a decent camera is much more expensive. We are going to give it to an guy, who is basically going to ride around taking pictures. We also need locations of where the pictures are taken. We're not going to hand the dude a fancy smartphone.

I wasn't really suggesting taking the photos with the phone, just using its built in gps. You can also get inexpensive stand alone gps loggers that perform the same function and can therefore be used with any camera.

I've had gps cameras and they all sucked, especially when it came to battery life.

Wife has the SX260 - works well. Doesn't seem to affect battery - did the full 5 day otter on one charge.
