Digital coax to analog RCA?

Hello everyone

I need to connect a Samsung BD-F5100 Blu-ray player and a Samsung HW-F355 soundbar to a TV with non-ARC HDMI ports, and only a headphone output and a digital coax output.

I can connect the BD-F5100 to the TV via HDMI. Currently I use a 3.5mm to RCA Stereo converter from the headphone port to the soudbar's analog in port. The sound quality is obviously not that good, and I want to know how I can connect the digital coax output from the TV to the soundbar?

Doesn't look like the soundbar has coax ; only optical ... which your BR doesn't have

EDIT : So no it won't work, even though it'll physically fit. That digital coax is going to send digital 1s and 0s through to your soundbar, which is expecting a sine wave to be sent and won't have any idea wtf to do with 1s and 0s

The connections of the soundbar are as follows:


It has an optical in, and an analog in via a 3.5mm connector. There is a 2 x RCA to 3.5mm cable included in the box, which I use to connect the headphone output of the TV to the soundbar.

I tried a RCA plug to 2 x RCA socket cable from the TV to the soundbar, and could hear some sound, but it sounded similar to a radio not receiving a good signal. I then realised the coax out on the TV is digital. :erm:

Would something like this work: Digital Audio / Coaxial or Optical Toslink to Analogue Stereo RCA Audio Converter

Edit: The reason I need to connect the digital out of the TV to the soundbar, is because I also have a SD DSTV decoder connected to the TV via RCA, and would like to "channel" the sound from the decoder to the soundbar as well
