Firstly, I'd like to apologize if this thread is already answered somewhere else on myBB.

On to my problem: my father bought a HD TV a few weeks ago, but complains CONSTANTLY about the choppy vision. So ofcourse, the IT man of the family must go check out the problem.. and I have decided that I'll fully blame the analog input (he uses normal antenna with MNET). Is this problem definition correct? Can anyone comment about it please?

The TV looks beautiful on HDMI, but the analog looks like a form of cancer on the display... Any help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Roobir

you dont need us dude, :)
correct anologue is crapy, use digital inputs

How can I get a digital input from their antenna? :P

ypu need to use the AV outpts from the decoder (Yellow , whitte and red conectors )
there are converters to convert from av to RF and vice versa but its not worth it.

I'm not too sure about this, but when I last checked the backside of the MNET decoder there was only 1 input and 1 output and they were both full of dust. Its probably the first ever series of MNET decoders, so you could understand that it is a bit old-tech :)

I'm guessing satellite TV is probably the best option for my parent's new TV?

shoo thats very old tech :)
there was no stero back in those days, i think the first mnet decoder that had steroeo out put was the concrypt 4000.
if you dont want to go the dstv route for now, check some one who has a 2nd hand decoder for sale with av out puts if not then dstv is the way to go.

what is the subscription theses days for mnet only?

Has your decoder got a Scart plug? If so, you can buy a Scart-to-RCA adapter (about R60) or cable type, and connect the DSTV via RCA. Better than RF cable...

Do you have a picture or model number of the decoder?
