Hi Guys,

Any recommendations on good digital photo frames?

I only see these Mivision models online - anybody know what else is out there or what to look for in a device?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Are digital photo frames still a thing? I thought it never really took of. Most people would just use computer screen or TV.

Well my partner really loves taking pics and viewing pics of our holidays etc really makes her happy. Having different pics from our holidays show on the frame will be a nice gift I thought.

Cool, that makes sense. It's just a pity that the digital photo frames on offer typically have very low resolution screens. But that might not be an issue to everyone.

I agree that standalone photo frames are a bit backwards, you are essentially just paying for a screen that can do little else but display photos. Chances are that you own a TV already and I would rather go for a device that can plug into your tv and have other functionality also.
I have a Raspberry Pi on which I run Kodi for my home entertainment needs, Kodi have many screensaver add-ons available. As soon as my tv timeout for 3 minutes, my wedding and holiday photos start playing.
If you ever thought about converting to smart tv by getting a tv box (many kinds discussed here on the forum), you could rather spend the 1k on that now than on a rigid photo frame.
Even if you are not into the Kodi home entertainment thing, you could still get a smaller device like PI zero and use that via your tv for photos only.
