Evening guys,

I hope you have all had a good week so far!

I have edited our Computing and Consumer Electronics category in order to make it more user friendly - I would love to hear your comments on the changes. Do you feel things are easier to find? Any feedback welcome.

I look forward to hearing from you! :)

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Hi there. This is all I see under Gaming > Playstation 2:

Hi Karyn,

While you're asking for feedback...I really find the cascading menu system hard to use...especially so on a small screen where the second or third level may well just disappear off the edge of the screen. Using a touchpad on a notebook it becomes even more of a challenge, any false move and the hierarchy just collapses and you have to start from the beginning.

Oh, and while I'm at it...there's no easy way, at least that I've found, so filter on hard drive size, i.e. 3.5" If I'm looking for a laptop replacement drive I have either filter on brand or capacity and then trawl through each result item to find if it's the right size. Many descriptions don't even mention the size.

Just my 2c.

Hi Nafisa,

Thanks for pointing this out, there are no PS2 consoles in stock and we need to deactivate the category. My guys are on it. I am also requesting that categories be removed automatically should there be no products in them - this does take Dev work though as we are on a newer platform.

Thanks and Regards,
Karyn

Thank you

I'm using Safari, on MACOSX and everytime I click on checkout I receive the following error:
Code:
Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

I don't know if its a problem on my side or on yours?

Still no MyBB price specials? Ah well, Esquire came to the party.
Hi I am Penguin,

We are still working on deals with MyBB - there are a few things that need to be discussed and sorted out before hand. I am very excited to get it up and running though.

Im sure that you will agree that we do have quite a variety of products - so please watch this space :D

Disagree...

I think the stock of desktops is appalling. There are only 5 desktops to choose from (assuming I'm using the navigation correctly). And same for computing LCDs as well, you only stock 2 models for LG? Perhaps you have good reasons for that.

And the prices, you sell an LGW1934 for R1600, I found a place on-line selling it between R1100 and R1500.
Over the past 5 years, I've never bought a thing from you guys because everyone else is cheaper.

HI Andy,

Thank you so much for your feedback :)

I am actually looking at adding more desktops - the reason for the shortage is due to the fact that desktops weren't selling on our site therefore I removed the category and decided to focus on laptops. However, I was trying to add a small selection back to the site in order to see if it sparked any interest.

As for LCD's, we are trying to only have the units that there is stock of on the site to avoid dissapointing customers. But to be honest we have also cut the ranges down in order to not have too many products on the site. This makes it easier to maintain the products.

As for the pricing, I will look into that and make sure that we are fair in our pricing. I don't believe that we are always going to be the cheapest as the newbie online guys often do have insane margin (if any) in order to get the customer base. I just hope that due to us being in the business since 1999 that people will have a trust for us.

I will get back to you on the pricing asap.

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Hi Andy,

That is an absolute amazing price of R1100 - this is much cheaper than our cost price. I will check with my suppliers in order to see if they are perhaps not giving us the best pricing on the unit.

Are you looking for this unit in particular? or were you just browsing?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and Regards,
Karyn

Thanks for your reply, I totally understand what you're saying. Every business big or small has different prices. And people will always shop where they feel comfortable whether its at Incredible, Computer Mania, or with some guy who happens to be a Rectron distributor etc etc. I'm one guy who will go anywhere within reason to get the best price, but there's no right or wrong. I suppose I would just prefer to buy from a bigger retailer but unfortunately the bigger the business, the bigger the margins must be. You're good, but I'm just cheap. :D

I know it is odd, I don't understand how it's possible to have such wildly differing prices, perhaps there are newer and older versions of this particular model which would explain the price differences?
Try typing in the model no. into Google and you'll find what other websites are selling it at. That's how I stumbled across the differences

I was browsing with the intention to buy in a few weeks.

Hi Iron Man,

Thanks for your reply.

If you have paid for an item you would receive it or you would be refunded. If none of this happened then I need to find out why. Please send more info on this.

Please also note that we have come a long way since 4 years ago :) For over a year now we have received many compliments on service and deliverability. Yes you will always get your hickups, no matter where you buy but we have really brought the complaints down and I have also taken all feedback from these forums into consideration when making changes at Digital Planet.

I would hope for you to give us another chance one day and experience the changes.

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Hi Andy,

Well let me see what I can do - perhaps I can source you a nice deal :)
I will PM you when I have an answer.

Thanks!
