Digital transaction fees too high

I have heard this before. When people go overseas they convert to cash or load onto local "cash" cards.

Remember the days of Traveler's Cheques? Safer than cash and even if you lost them the finder could not cash them and they could be replaced.
 
What is wrong with it? One is a piece of paper telling you how much you have, the other is a database entry. If you think that piece of paper makes it real I have a bridge...

The cashless push in both articles on MyBB is an advertorial by Gareth Ackerman of the Consumer Council for PayShap. Nothing to do with the banks who did a survey two years ago and found that cash is king in SA and not going away. Findings from the banks:

1. Over half of SA uses cash exclusively.
2. Illegal immigrants can't open bank accounts and run on cash only.
