Hey Everyone.

I'm looking for a Digital Video Camera, either from computer wholesalers, so who better to ask than all the myadsl users :P

Basically I'm looking for something with a hdd, so that I can quickly and easily transfer to my pc. Same setup as most digital cameras these days. The smaller ones are also a plus. Of course price also comes into it :P
Aparently you get some anti-handshaking stuff on some cameras too, so that would be nice.

Anyone got suggestions on the most cost effective combination of stuff?

Thanks :)

Take a look at the Sony SR 200...

Gonna cost alot though. Paid around R8k for it about 2 months ago.

Video cameras with HDDs are still infant technology but they are growing so you're paying to be an early adopter.

BTW. The SR 200/300 etc range is kinda like the 2nd gen of HDD video cameras and I wouldn't go with any models from the previous range (SR 42 etc..) even though they're about half the price (read somewhere about them still being new 1st generation tech so access times and stability was a concern)

That being said if you google, you'll find the majority if reviews of the SR 200 have been quite favourable.

Happy shopping :)

I bought the SONY SR 300 3 months ago and have no complains. The stabilization feature works great(much better than JVC). Does 6MP still photos as well. The HDD(40GB) was the deciding factor - no more tapes or DVDs to worry about. You can even use it as an external HDD :).

I agree, very nice camera, but you can find this model for about R6500 and then the SR300 is about R8000.
cheaper, but also with 30gb hdd, is the panasonic SDR-H18 for about R4500
