Dimitri began his career in media as Marketing Manager: Business Development at the BOP Broadcasting Corporation, focusing on programme development and the satellite operations of BOP TV into Africa. He then served as policy advisor and special assistant to Council of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA), now ICASA. He was part of the senior management team that set up South Africa’s first independent commercial television station, e.tv. As part of his consulting projects, Dimitri was part of the team that developed and drafted several of the SABC’s corporate and editorial policies. Dimitri then served as Senior Manager: Policy, Government and Public Affairs at the National Film and Video Foundation. He was appointed as researcher for the Digital Broadcasting Advisory Body (DBAB), established by the Department of Communications to advise the Minister of Communications on policy and the implementation of digital broadcasting in South Africa. He is an external examiner for the WITS Graduate School of Humanities and guest lecturer and assessor for AFDA. Dimitri is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand and holds an MA in Development Sociology and BA (Hons.) degree in Media and Cultural Studies.
