Diploma in IT or BSc

Im currently employed as a java dev and am looking to expand on my knowledge through Unisa.

Before this job I was doing coding in c#.

What would be the recommended way forward?
 
Bsc. Comp Sci. and whatever major you prefer. Applied math is good, statistics as well.
 
I was leaning more in the direction of Bachelor of Science in Computing

It looks like Computing and Computer Science may be the same thing at UNISA. Way to confuse people, UNISA.
 
Get your certification in Java and C# first. It can be done within a month.

Bsc. Comp Sci is the other obvious choice.
 
Well the diploma one looks more like an entry point into computer science, thats why im leaning to the BSc.
Yet I might not have sufficient info regarding both to make a decision yet and time to register is running out.

Correction, time has run out for Bsc. via Unisa i believe.

Well that depends on how far you are willing to take the certs as they both can take a long time to get fully qualified in.

I was thinking on doing the java certs along side the BSc.

You can book the exam a month in advance.

I have got all the material needed thanks, currently busy with java concurrency in practice.
but do sent more info as knowledge is power.

Getting the associate lever cert is certainly possible in a month. But the master level cert will take considerably longer.
 
I am planning on doing all of my certifications after I hand in my thesis (I have yet to start :p) in September.
 
In prior years (many, many moons ago), you could do the Diploma in IT initially & gain full credits for all the subjects towards your Degree. I don't know if it's still like that.

Thats really interesting, I shall be inquiring about that and post my findings back on here.
 
Nope. Can't be done today. It's best to speak to the dean at varsity about this though but I am sure that you can't get credited at varsity for Technikon modules.

Both are available through Unisa

Not Technikon modules, Unisa Modules, though I think it used to be the Diploma in Datametrics.
