Direct Airside Transit visa for the UK

Is this the one required if you fly via London to another destination, i.e. a connecting flight/transit and not leaving the airport and not going through border control?

Also, how long does this generally take and do you need to attend in person at the High Commission for this application?

This is the reason we dont fly with BA had to cancel our flights and take another airline - this can take 4-6 weeks I believe unless someone did it more recently.

this is also the most ridiculous visa. please note you will be without a passport whilst waiting

either start looking for another airline or get that visa request in ASAP

a handful of destinations like US would be exempt not even the EU is helpful for this kek

Meaning that flying via the US does not require a transit visa?

If it is with Virgin and not BA?

Neighbour got one. Filled in form, paid R812,00. It arrived in 2 weeks. She was on her way to Ireland. This was in 2019

Last month she booked via Lufthansa. Change at Frankfurt to Aer Lingus. No charge at all (her Schengen Visa is valid for 10 years). That section of the flight is R3039,00

Unfortunately, I need to leave by Friday or Saturday so I guess that one is out.
