This isn't wisp or wifi but perhaps it does fit under "other broadband services":

Has anyone heard something about Telkom's 64kb - 32Mb Direct Internet (TDIS).

I would like to know what it costs (obviously a lot) but still
for interests sake, and if it's capped and so on

freeek, you'd be spot on with that, 512k is around 30k if i'm not mistaken

Conrad, europe satelite providers covers most of africa and south africa, for around 2000 euro you could get that type of bandwitdh (even more I think) here...

33Mb/s = E3 = STM-1 div 3

Hi
32 Mb/s?
This sounds alot like either Frame Relay or ATM networking.
Possibly marketed under the Telkom IVPN moniker, Frame Express or Cell Express.
Adjustable from 64Kb/s timeslot up to 2Mb/s and then all the way up to 32Mb/s
This is a lot of bandwidth and will cost a few million....
:)

If you move to Japan, that kind of connection would be called slow
