Dis Vrydag ouens...

Is it better knowing the actual story or is what you thought previously better?
It's worse knowing the actual story. When I heard it I thought it was about the fondness about youth when we had nothing but were carefree, before internet and satellite tv.

The lyrics "me and my baby in a ’69'" makes me realize I missed out in my youth and went to the wrong parties.

Ironic thing is they play the song on conservative Afrikaans radio channels regularly and even play it at the Springbok matches in the rugby stadiums this year. Makes me wonder how many people know the true meaning.

Similar thing with "I'll be watching you" by "The Police"/Sting which comes across as a nice song but has a dark background story.
