My data started disappearing 2 days ago while at the shops, so not using the phone, it kept disappearing while on wifi and even once I switched data off completely. To add insult to injury according to Afrihost I have even used 8gig since I ran out of data!?

I logged a fault with Afrihost when I received the first auto top up message and have tried desperately to get someone to speak to me or give me an update. Email, WhatsApp, twitter, call-back, here...every avenue I could think of but no joy. Not the service i was expecting but that is another thread. And of course you can't speak to anyone at mtn either, just an endless loop of self service options.

Anyone have similar issues or advice on what can be done? Worried my sim may have been cloned or something

Straight iPhone, no funnies. And according to that I have used less than 4gig in the last month compared the 16gig in 2 days according to afrihost.

Hi Someuser,

That sounds odd. I can have a look and see what the usage shows on my side. Can you send me your clientzone email let me have a look?

What was the issue if i may ask?
Yes please. Can this be explained as a glitch or Afrihost staff theft or MTN staff theft or something else?
Probably unrelated but the same thing happened to me on MTN supersonic. I had data go missing before I even received my Sim.

I'm sure yet. The sessions does not match the data used. I have asked our Dev team to investigate. We have manually allocated more data to get the client online as fast as possible.

@AfriNatic: I'm sorry to piggyback on this post, but I have had the same issue twice now, and the Afrihost centre are not willing to assist as they say it must be a fault on my side.

I have a monthly 3gb bundle, and on two occasions, the data has dropped swiftly, while being on wifi.

Last night (the second time this happened), even though I only had 1.9gb left, it disappeared and my 'detailed usage' screen says I used 9.3gb. Once I noticed it was happening again, I made sure that 'wifi assist' was off, and I turned off mobile data completely - the data kept dropping until it was on zero.

I then topped up with 250mb and it disappeared almost instantly. So, I switched each individual app off too, and bought another 250mb. Again, it disappeared almost instantly (I watched it go down), refreshing the app as I was on wifi. My usage screen in iOS shows no data was used by any app.

Now, 12 hours later, the 1.9gb of data has returned and both 250mb bundles have returned too (which I obviously no longer need).

I would just like to know what happened here and to see if I can somehow avoid it in future. It is quite a hassle being out and your data being completely diminished with no way to top up.

If possible, I would also like to return the two additional bundles I bought, as they won't be needed.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated

We have had an issue with data depletion. This has been resolved yesterday and the data allocations are being refunded that were being deducted incorrectly. I do apologise for the issue.

Thank you. Would I be able to return the two additional bundles I purchased?
