For ants find the nests and sprinkle this close the entry (or where the ant conentrations/numbers are high). They take the bait home, the queen eats it and dies. Takes about two weeks to get rid ofmost ants.

Everyone seems to assume this is a termite / ant problem merely because the poster mentioned he saw ants. I have recently found two pests that can destroy your grass: snails and army worms. Snails I have managed to sort out now for the army worms. My problem is, I have cats and dogs. I have been told to use 4:1:1 fertiliser with karbaril. It is not so nature friendly though as it also kills earthworms. What alternative is there?

Dead thread, but cypermentherin as mentioned before. Mix it as per area you treating and keep your pets away for at least 1hrs, preferably 2hrs until it dries. Once it dries it's ok for the animal's to go on. The longer you can keep them away the better however.
