Hi Guys,

I signed up with virgin mobile last year on the 21/12/2009 on a Classic Airtime 100 contract. I bought my own phone for cash and only contracted my sim card. The deal was that I pay R100 every month, debit order from my account on the 7th of every month (it used to be the 1st but the their rules changed), and they will transfer me R150 into my cellphone account. See the attached advertisement for virgin mobile. This seemed to have happened till about June 2010 this year, and then they started depositing R100 a month into my cellphone account.

I complained to 2 different virgin mobile stores about this, and both has said that virgin only pays R150 a month for the first 6 months, and from then on, they only pay R100 a month. When I asked the clerks at both stores where this was stated, they shrugged their shoulders and said that was just how it is. This is NOWHERE to be seen on the official advertisement for virgin mobile. This is NOWHERE to be seen on my contract.

If you look on their contract advertisement as well, there is no deal for paying R100 a month for R100 worth of airtime. I have highlighted the contracts where you can pay R100 a month on the attached official ad. The TopUp airtime only gives you R140 a month of airtime for R100 and the classic airtime only gives you R150 a month for R100. Furthermore, the TopUp Airtime Only 100 with free SMS is a new thing, and I'm certainly not on that one. I have confirmed with the store assistant in that regard.

I'm a bit angry that I cannot sort this out and am thinking of typing out a complaint on hellopeter.com. Is there anyone in the same position as me?

I feel cheated by virgin as this contract is way too expensive in my mind with the way it is now structured. I bought my own phone to virgin. The R100 does not have to subsidise the cost of a contract phone from virgin, so why am I paying R100 for R100 worth of airtime (1:1 ratio)? People who took out a contract with a free phone are paying the 1:1 ratio for airtime, as a portion of the airtime paid subsidises their phone.

ok guys, howdo u post attachments? I want to post the official ad from virgin mobile for their contract prices onto this thread.
