I've just moved back to Prepaid (CellC). Been on contract with MTN for ~10yrs. Before that I used to buy airtime at Pep, which was cheapest. I see they're still cheaper, but discounts aren't what they were:

CellC:

R10 = R9.70
R35 = R33.99

MTN:

R15 = R14.49
R30 = R28.99

etc. (not sure where the 99c comes from- should be 95..)

So, where's the best place for discount prepaid airtime? Pick n Pay, Game, PEP etc?

Why do people want to save 50c? You can only buy 2 chappies with it.

bringing up an old thread...
I find buying airtime through the eBuck shop the cheapest. Depending on the discount level u on, u can get up tp 40% discount. I get 30% discount on airtime.
i.e. R29 vodacom = R20

Back in the day you would save R5 purchasing R100 Telkom Mobile - no profit margins on airtime, the cafe, around the corner from me adds 5 cent markup

airtimefactory.co.za = 5% discount

Just check when you buy airtime. I was on prepaid for nearly 2 months and found that R25 Vodacom gave me R25 extra for the rest of the day and MTN R30 gave me 100mb data for the week.

On a few occasions a long time ago, I bought from Hi-Fi Corp who were then discounting Vodacom R55 by R5. Call them now to see if still available (and on Cell-C as well), but it may have been a promo at the time ?
