Discovery Bank

I agree all other major banks in SA give lounge access on platinum, this is why I'm thinking of moving from discovery to FNB
All types of lounge access are not equal. First, there's domestic vs international. Then Bidvest vs airline vs SLOW.
Some of these are much easier to get than others - even FNB places certain restrictions on access depending on the account. That said, SLOW lounges are probably the best in SA.

I'm just sad Discovery put that on their expensive Black account only
This is exactly the sort of segmentation that is inherent in the "platinum, signature, inscription" system. Black card is meant to compete with private banking alternatives I imagine - in which case it's not a terrible value proposition.

To be honest I prefer discovery to have unique discounts. If everyone is offering similar things I wouldn’t like to join them. When I do my takealot and pick n pay shopping I use my discovery card and when I shop at checkers I use my Fnb. Sometimes if you lucky you get triple discounts. There was a time when you bought petrol at BP you got 15% ebucks, 50% cashback from discovery and like 1% from avios.

Absolutely, I'm the same and it's very much a question of market positioning. I think Disco realises that most will not immediately make this their primary bank account (despite the fact that it has the nudges, like the deposit requirement).

At the end of the day, most customers aren't into accumulating bank accounts though (especially at top tier fees) and so to poach customers over there needs to be significant overlap of value proposition; otherwise folks will need to "sacrifice" some benefits to move over. Disco are in the unique position here, because they have some very unique rewards and discounts and just need to tack on the basic stuff. Maintaining these discounts and brining in a new rewards currency will be a very strong draw, especially for the "maximising" "gamified" folks that have been cultivated through the health and insurance products.

Actually think Standard Bank's top lounge (they have 3 different ones) at OR Tambo lounge the best.

Wish they had similar quality at other airports.

How do you get the cashback from Dischem? I have the Dischem loyalty benefit card. that builds up a cash credit balance on my dischem account, but no money has ever found it's way to my Discovery credit card. now that the benefit is 43.5% I want to make sure I get it. Dischem is set as my preferred partner with Discovery. Do I also need some sort of Dischem Vitality card?

Can you have vitality with just the bank?
Or can you get gym and woolies and dischem cash back with just bank and no vitality?

Not international lounges. E.g. Nedbank platinum it's only bidvest lounges at OR Tambo. Exit our border and no access.
ABSA offers 6 international lounge through dragon pass per year at R59 a month on platinum cheque ACC, FNB offers 10 international through lounge key all you need is a cheque ACC and pay the annual global card at 25$ or somewhere there.

I'm not sure about the other two

Think the money is credited into your Loyalty card. Dischem now sends a statement that shows how much money comes from Vitaltity and how much from just being a regular Dischem loyalty customer.

Does anyone know what the spend bands are on Discovery Black Card? It seems getting a Black card could be a pain in the butt - you pay more every month and also have to spend more to get the benefits.

It remains on your Dischem card until you spend it. It's many years since the Healthycare discounts were genuine cash backs into a bank account. Your Dischem card should be linked to Vitality.

I'm getting my healthy care cash back into my discovery vitality savings bank account no longer into my dischem loyalty account

I'll double check but last they told me all healthy care will go into my discovery vitality ACC, so far I've got from PNP fitness booster and healthy gear , it's quite annoying where you can to try work out when it says VITALRet irrespective where it comes from

For healthyfood back at Woolworths, do we need to pay with our new discovery cards? Or does it keep working if we pay with a WW credit card?

What will healthy care called? Or as someone said it goes into my loyalty card? But I think it should go into my disc bank
There's never been a cash option for healthycare
