Okie Dokie, so here is my first rant.....
Five weeks ago when it was raining cats, dogs and other miserable wet creatures, my trusty little Nissan Micra had a nasty incident with a muddy road. I was stuck up to the front axles in mud. this mud patch was about 30 Metres away from our plot gate, so I called my wife to bring the bakkie and we towed the Micra out. ABS warning light and Power Steering Light where indicating that we had some problems. I checked the rest of the car and the front bumper was a bit damaged - nothing to serious just a slight tear in the plastic and a black piece at the bottom was off.
So to cut the story short, I went off to work. My wife works from home so there was no problem with transport yet. called Discovery and they said that the car would need to be assessed - take it around to the assessment centre the next day. So my wife tries to start the car and it is dead. phone Discovery and they send out a tow truck. Awesome, pretty good service so far. Until the tow truck gets stuck in the mud for 6 hours on the way to us. doh!
So now the car is off and we are stuck with a fuel guzzling beast of a bakkie, good for towing horse boxes, krap for commuting from Hennops river to Edenvale every day.
Week one goes by, no feedback from discovery and so my phoning starts. every second day I phone and ask for feedback. Get told that I will get a call back, awesome I think, in reality I am being given empty promises.
Week two goes by and the same thing.
Week three goes by and I get to go on holiday with my family sweet. this should be relaxing, Discovery Insurance should sort this out. considering I am on holiday I give Discovery a break for a couple of days between calls. Get told that the car now starts.
Week four starts and I contact Discovery to be told that I need to email them and they will provide feedback by mail. cool I think. Day 1 of week four, I get a responce to my mail. nice one, I am getting hopeful here. Day 2 send another email querying about the state of the repairs, specifically ABS and Power Steering. No feedback. Day 4 send the same mail back to discovery asking for feedback. no response.
So Day five of week four, I decide time to phone again. get a promise that my car is now fixed. Ask about the ABS and Power Steering and I am assured that these will have been fixed. awesome, finally. I get a phone call, I hear the good words, your car is fixed and now you can come pick the vehicle up. Good news on my last day of holiday.
So Monday of Week five begins and I phone Discovery to find out when and where I can pick up my car. get the details, so before I drive across to Pretoria East to pick up my car I phone the Mechanic. I am so glad I did, because, as you guess, the Power steering and ABS are not fixed but the bumper is.
Before this I had to return my folks car, which we used on holiday, and I try brave JHB traffic by bike. Thanks Discovery for the mighty inconvenience. So I have requested a car, which I can use to drive to work and back, so far no luck.
It looks like Discovery are going above and beyond to assist me.
