This is to discuss the recent events around TikTok and America.

The supreme court has ruled that Tiktok should be banned, if I understand it correctly. What will it take for Trump to undo the decision?

I assume this will not just be a straightforward process.

Maybe a follow up question, what are the implications if Trump ignores enforcing the decision of the supreme court and allows TikTok and its partners to operate despite the ruling

Sorry sir @RedViking who granted you powers to say what can and what cannot be posted in a thread on MyBb?

Well no social media app is safe from American companies. If it makes money they want it. If they can't have it they kill it. How is the App market competitive then? It is not and app developers should look beyond Google for publishing because America has proven that they don't play by their own rules.

I mentioned in the Official TT thread about "narrative push", that schit is real & these suits are scared af of this & double so for a Chinese company.

A tale as old as time:

Power & Control.

Tiktok "going dark" is obviously a PR stunt. But the ruling is what it is. As I understand it they can be given 90 day halt on the ban, but then what happens after that if TikTok is not planning to sell?
Well we can sure speculate but is way early to try and decipher how it will play out. The possible smart money is on US ownership but it seems like a stretch at this point in time.

In this way I actually approve of this thread as oppose to the "Official" one, assuming okes stay on topic & give a meaningful discussion/debate.

Do you think it will go further than just a regional block, in other words, only Americans who won't have access to the app. Or do you think they will push for Google / Apple to completely ban tiktok from the play stores if TikTok does not sell to a US company.

When America tell the world to jump they expect the world to jump. It is my guess that every country that doesn't ban this app will probably see some sort of sanction or tariff against them.

Have 'they' asked other countries to ban TikTok as well? Currently that is not the situation though, as far as I understand it anyways.

This is how this all played out. In between the last 2/3 steps we can have a meaningful discussion.

By doing so we could (possibly) see a likely final resolution.

My understanding is that SCOTUS ruled that a ban would be constitutional, not that it has to happen.

I may be wrong though.

I'd love to know the real reasons behind the ban. It seems very heavy handed for the reasons given publicly.
