So i went to bed last night, woke up and this error is on my screen. Tried restarting, same thing. Went into bios tried pretty much anything, not working. Someone pls help? I'm on vista with a MSI laptop.

hmmm. soundsl either hdd is gone or controller. im guessing hdd. can you try the hdd in another machine?

Oh it's a laptop. I had a similar error this weekend on my pc and I just switched the sata cable to another connector. Certainly sounds like it's having difficulty reading the HDD. Is it properly plugged in?

Well, I might be able to check the hdd somewhere else. Damn its like a brand new laptop..

take it back? I had a Dell for 3 days, brand new and the HDD popped, same error. Sometimes it happens.

What OS are you running? It is possible that just the master boot record has corrupted.

Sounds like the hard drive..

Best way to make sure is to take your lappy apart and put it in another pc. If that doesn't work, well then you know..

Don't disassemble the laptop when it's still under warranty, otherwise you'll void the warranty.

Best to take it back and demand an exchange should it be still covered by a warranty.

Besides, I do hope you've made a backup of your data...
