Hey okes

I got a friend who always wipes his disk clean after deleting or uninstalling someone.

Now is it really necessary?

And what program would you recommend if it is necessary, coz he uses Norton and I don't dig Norton's programs too much.

Oh and a late Happy New Year to my fellow formites...tomorrow is back to work for some of us :(

There was a free secure disk erase program in my free software thread... I'm sure you can find it if you search within the thread. Not sure how good it is though. Never had to use it! Welcome back! :)

How important is your privacy?

Darik's Boot and Nuke will do the job of cleaning any disk you release into the wild. Note that it's a feature included on the UBCD4Win bootmenu (in itself a handy-dandy CD to have around the place)

Lol soz spelling error.

So its basically privacy? He said it would make disk write/system performance faster.

Maybe he's just talking rubbish then.

Does disk wiping decrease disk life in anyway?
