Got a LG LCD here that goes into Powersave mode as soon as the WinXP desktop loads, nVidia 6600 gpu.

This occurred after I removed the wallpaper and set the background colour to black in order to see any dirt on the display so I could clean it.

Any ideas how I can get around this seeing I cannot see what's going on?

Normally if that happens it could be the resolution that was set too high and now the screen cant handle it. Try plugging a higher resolution capable monitor in and see if that works.

The resolution's got nothing to do with the wallpaper but unfortunately that's all I've got...

Resolution is fine as you can see see the loaded desktop for about a second or two before powesave kicks in. Resolution was never touched on the desktop.

Can you boot into safe mode ok?

Is there any possibility that your pc itself is going into standby instead of just your screen?

Does it do the same if you boot to safe mode? Try booting to safe mode, uninstall the driver and remove the device in device manager, re-boot and reinstall the graphics driver.

Shot. Just above the monitors power button is "Enter" button which adjusts the monitor resolution. I must have touched it after power on as it had changed the input res to 640x480 which is that of the bios screen. On startup I just kept clicking this button the whole time and my desktop appeared. It however does not work once it goes into powersave mode, daft.
