Dissolve a municipality?! or what can we do?

So... we are super fed up with our local municipality being Emfuleni.
They are under administration due to mal administration...
The sewerage runs in the streets like rivers, the roads are full of holes, they've lowered the water pressure to stop the pipes bursting and we've been without electricity for 5 full days now... We were were without power for 7 days about 2 or 3 weeks back. The also have huge outstanding debts at both Eskom and Rand Water and make arrangements to pay and then fail to do so... resulting in threats from providers to shut off services.

It has happened before...What options do we as rate payers have?! Anyone been through fighting something like this in the past?

I would have considered immigrating to Cape Town if it wasn't for the expensive living costs and terrible weather.

You could organise yourselves and shut **** down for days. The courts will not help because the municipality is what you voted for. So ANC arrogance continues because they know they'll be voted back in. Wasn't there a plan to create some metro merging Midvaal, emfuleni and sedibeng or something. So your best option is to move.

Its lovely. Our suburb's sewerage pump stopped working yesterday. Watched how sewerage water flowed into the Hartbeespoort Dam. Proudly sponsored by the aFRICAN nATIONAL cONGRESS. Guys, just so you know, local harties residents dont use the dam at all.

I think our municipality is one of the most corrupt in the country. I asked my fiance how the f do we even still have electricity and water, only to observe Eskom cut our municipalities electricity due to non-payment on Monday.

I have tried to connect with the person who wrote that article to find out how to go about it as I have no idea where/how to start and figure at least she could put me in touch with someone that went through the process.

Tip, look at Ficksburg, some businessmen started to fix the town, and now plan to legally take over the town.

So this happened... Emfuleni doesn't have the equipment needed to test the cables... so they need to bring in contractors...

With the current issue the power went off at Friday at 4pm (roughly)... They only called the contractors on SUNDAY at 3pm to come and assess... and this was only after the community went out and found the workers in the substations.

Get the majority of residents to sign a petition to take over administration. Otherwise your only other option is to have the municipality placed under administration.
