Is there a way/software/formula to calculate distance based on the latency between two IPs?

I know you lot are bright... help me out :D

Impossible to accurately determine.

There can be a variety of network types between the two IPs, eg fiber optic, satellite, ethernet, and wireless. Each medium has its own latency.

true, it all depends on the medium, another factor to consider is network load.
on average within south africa, using adsl, if you get SA-SA under 400ms consider urself lucky. international under 1000ms ur lucky. With most wireless/3g/gprs setups in SA... ur lucky if any packets actually get back.

Well in this case I know the medium (and we're getting around 43ms EL-JHB, 42ms EL-CT) so any suggestions?
