What is the furthest distance from a tower you got a connection?

Does an antennae help to increase the max distance?

I looked on the Tower Distance calculator but obvioulsy some users submitted bogus info !!

:)

ProAsm previously posted that: "The distance is set in the NodeB software, and the latest software that we are installing atm, increases the normal range from 5.7 to 6.5 km." (See http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3044&whichpage=2).

I doubt the towers need to measure distance, its more a case of signal strength and alignment of the tower panels. Simply put, the tower techs will adjust the footprint of the towers to be 6.5km wide instead of 5.7 - no software distance calculations necessary.

Same like ADSL only works a max distance of 8 km on copper wire.
IPWireless (normal range) only works approx 6 km thru air and long range approx 29 km.
