Hello - I am the Sock Puppet. Need advice again.

I got divorced in 2012. My Marital status on Home affairs is still Married. Anyone know why this is?

Some of the facts:
(1) I used Legal Aid for reasons I won't disclose ever.
(2) He/She/It had lawyers and they supposedly secured everything and completed all that needed to be done.
(3) My LA lawyers told me it is all done.
(4) When I first discovered this status, his/her/its lawyers said they don't talk to me so I need to speak to mine to find out what is going on at Home Affairs
(5) My lawyers told me that it is done and all I need to do is wait for HA to update. They haven't

Has anyone else has this experience with home affairs website?

You should have a court order signed by the judge. Take that to Home Affairs and get sorted. What ever you do is don't lose the original and get copies certified but have the original with you.
Home Affairs is apparently fairly competent now......

did you get divorced at a High Court or through the regional court?
if the divorce was granted by decree through the regional court the change over from the old divorce courts into the regional divisions of murder and matrimony has caused quite a lot of stupidity. More than Home Affairs you should probably check on the court where the decree was issued.

Go personally into a Home Affairs office and confirm your marital status before you take any further action- the website may contain outdated information.

Thanks Paul. I don't know which court it is . I will check the documentation I have. I am pretty sure it is regional.

Don't worry I'm still married even though I got divorced 15 years ago. I would love to know who I am married to. Maybe Ockie???
