DIY 3G Signal booster

A friends (mine's similar): http://oi51.tinypic.com/swzkf9.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/11qo3f9.jpg Hardly get below 3.5Mbps with this, I promise. I use both Vodacom and MTN, but not Cell C.

To those who PM'd me. This above, is basically a plastic bowl. Covered with a 6 layer tin foil. And a hole in the center (presumably focal) has been drilled. And the back of the bowl is sprayed black. Try pointing your modem to different directions and see where the best signal is (best way to do this is to do it when downloading something).

nice to see ya'll a hackin. you can also use a pringles can for very high directionality, with increased distance.

A pringles? Lol that made my morning. How cheap can SA get?

It's been done everywhere, it's an excellent waveguide for its price.

To OP: the foil shouldn't make much difference as the mesh on that strainer is way closer than the signal's wavelength

Same idea but used sattelite dish. Signal improvened by 27(!!!!!!) dB
Modem attached instead of LNB

For DIY - realculate dimensions for 900MHz
All originals are for 2400MHz
I'm using round design of BiQuad. Speed rise 2 times

it works guys just did the experiment and my signal was -85dbm and now using my booster its -69dbm , just did speed test
...
2) without booster :D

I wasnt mocking, it was just funny. I might try it, I get -87dBm
