Hi guys,

Quick question, do I need a multiswitch in the setup of my explora? A dstv technician keeps saying I must purchase the smart lnb, but surely exploras were setup with a multi switch before the smart lnb was released?

A TWIN LNB plus an Explora switch version 5-2 will work at the moment. In the future, you will require a quad/Quattro LNB with a switch.
Then there is the 24-1Z switch which will also work with a TWIN LNB.

Long term the answer is to get the SLNB. The price of the 24-1Z switch and the SLNB are about the same.

Thanks, bought the smart lnb and installed it and on the first try got 93% quality and about the same strength

Check the signal strength and quality values for all 3 tuners. All three should get a signal quality of 100% for best performance. The signal strength generally should be over 80% on all 3 tuners.

Tuner 3 is very important for proper long term performance of the Explora. Try and improve the quality values by making very very small adjustments to the skew angle.

If you like, I can calculate for what the skew angle should be by sending me a PM with your location co-ordinates.
