Anyone know where to get something similar to this Water Testing kit on Amazon locally? I realize it's not nearly as good as a proper lab test, but it's better than nothing.

Reason I ask is I get water from the Newlands Spring at SAB and last night the water had an unmistakably metallic taste to it (like blood). The DIY test kit might not pick anything up, but I'd like to try it just out of curiosity. Or else if anyone knows someone who knows someone where I could get a proper test without breaking the bank...

Cape Union Mart maybe? or take the H20 to CSIR in Stellies eheheheh

These guys may be able to point you in the right direction. http://beerguevara.com. Otherwise see if you can get hold of someone at SAB?
Thanks.
Yeah SAB do test the water but there's definitely something different about it some days. Would be interesting if I could test that specific batch of water I've got rather than rely on their quarterly tests or whenever they do it. I'll send them an email either way :).

Someone phoned 702 to say it would cost about R1 200 to R1 500, depending on what they test for.

saor, i am sorry, *** one of me, i didnt pay for it. Maybe phone the Stellenbosch guys and ask??

you can try a company called selectech they sell water testing equipment and kits however they generally sell to laboratory based customer and they are based in Jhb but they will probably be able to courier the test to you.

Also do you mean SAB (South African Breweries) or the SABS (South African Bureau of Standards)?

If @ me I'm talking about SABreweries. They have a public spring-water collection point next door to the brewery in Newlands. There's another spring-water place elsewhere in Newlands too. Same source afaik.

Thanks.

Any word from SAB? They'll test the source multiple times per week considering water is the main ingredient of beer - and it would be somewhat of a disaster if 30 hectoliters of beer had an off-taste.
