Also, it should read "glass fibre reinforced polyamide" But that sounds to close to glass fibre reinforced nylon and people associate nylon with plastic, and plastic is moss weak stuff, even though some of it can be almost as strong as steel (if not as heat resistant).

I said strong enough.

I've not damaged any spike from accidental dropping wood onto them (was throwing planks into my yard from side of road), or when some shade cloth got tangled in them and I yanked the shade cloth - shade cloth is toast.

If somebody wanted to get past then they would not be wasting their time trying to cut off the spikes, too many of them. And they turn individually so rolling a blanked over it or even a blank is useless.

The only way to bypass is to saw through the metal poles that skewers the spikes. Some people feed fibre optic through the poles connected to their alarm, another option that I will be doing is to place loose rebar as it will make it harder to saw through with a rod moving the whole time prevent the saw from grabbing onto it.
 
I installed these ones last year and just placed them on top of the precast wall without bolting them down. Was a couple of months before I finished drilling holes and installing them properly. Actually some of them on this wall still need to be done.

We had a big problem with vagrants last year and our property was a building site during renovations which also attracts criminal elements. Never had a problem at all. Also having a visible CCTV system added to the deterrent factor.

My wife works from home, hair salon, and she feels very safe with these spikes.
 
Appearantly a pack of dachshunds is all you need ;-)

Do you mean you'll put some loose rebar inside the pipe holding the spikes?

When I contacted an installer about these a few years back I was informed that the fibre optic option was very expensive and only cost effective for a very long length installation. Have you seen any cost effective diy solutions to that at all?

I would most likely install rebar in the tubes when I one day take them down to reinstall and replace any damaged or weather damaged spikes. So no time soon.

As for the fibre optic, even a thin wire connected to your panic button would work, probably cheaper and same effect. I'm upgrading my alarm next year and wife asked me to put beams up for the spikes. Just another layer of defence, will look for strip beams as they have fewer false alarms but I last checked these out 3 years ago.

For me these suggestions are just buying time when somebody wants to get past your security. But as a deterrent, I don't need to do anything more as these spikes work better than expected.
 
I have the roller spikes and I'm not convinced that they would take a beating or cut through something as easily as metal spikes would.

I reckon if you are athletic enough you could even pull yourself up at the supports and roll over them wearing a leather jacket and jeans.

If you have a double row though... definitely not.

But I'm not trying it cause the neighbours would be watching.
 
I installed the roller spikes aswell. For those asking you buy galvanised tubing to go inside the spikes. (I got mine from MacSteel)

If they really want to get in they will. But this at least gives them pause. Neighbor got his gate motor stolen, even though he has massive dogs. Several others in the street got hit aswell, but nothing on our property (yet).

Smaller dogs are more alert generally than bigger dogs, and probably braver:
