So I’m looking for a new WISP. There have been a few changes my affairs the last few days which may require that I move from my current address in the near future. As such I can’t really contact a provider to do a LOS test and install equipment, just to cancel everything a month or so later.
As a kind of temporary solution I’d like to use my existing 2.4GHz MikroTik kit and check if there’s a WISP around that I can use till such a time that I’ll be in a better position to plan a more long term solution.
Now what would be the best way to go about this? I can use WinBox and scan for signals, but getting from a long list of SSIDs to contact numbers is my problem. How does one distinguish between someone’s home wifi and a WISPs signal (except for names like BurgerFamilyWifi
)? I’m really useless with WinBox and MikroTik gear in general.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
