I have a baby monitor receiver that connects to a charger. The charger cable uses a usb micro-b pin.

The charger has ceased to work and I am stuck with a low battery monitor.

I have double checked the cables, they work on other appliances.

Now, I have opened the monitor and it revealed the following.

Please excuse the paint drawing:

Now is there anyway I can directly power the monitor without using the batteries?
My first instinct was to somehow connect elec directly to the black and red wires, thus circumventing the battery? is that possible?

Otherwise I will post a picture tomorrow and ask further assistance.

Or if possible, is there a way for me to pickup the signal sent out by the baby monitor to the reciever with my pc for example.

You cannot just connect any electricity to the wires. What are the battery's voltages and are the connected in series or parallel?

Can the batteries be removed and tested in another appliance?

Have you tried a phone charger or plugging it into a PC?

I'd do that before messing with the battery.

OP, if you can check it, make sure the max output of the charger matches or exceeds the one supplied... (I assumed that the mention to cables checked on other appliances meant the power supply was checked)

USB charging has standards, no real need to stress.

It does yes but connecting a 0.3A charger to a device that needs 1A won't do much so he will end up believing its the device or batteries when it could rightly be the charger...

So he should plug it into every USB port he can find (with every cable that fits) before he starts cutting wires...

Let me take you through my process.

The charger I have received for the monitor receiver also powers the camera(interchangeable), there are two chargers with attached cables.
Both of them power the camera. Both of them is still capable of powering the camera.

Yeah look cutting wires is the last resort. I was hoping the battery pack uses regular AA batteries or something standard that can easily be removed and tested in a different device.

Cool then it looks like your power supply is fine. Next step would be to check the batteries.
