Hello,

Where can I buy a small regasing kit for a fridge? I once had one guy who refilled my fridge using an aerosol like can with some piping. I already have a refill valve already fitted on my compressor. I was thinking maybe I can get that kit and cut the chase. It looked so basic...

Thanks

i wouldnt.if you overcharge the unit the pump will burn out .and if you undercharge it youre wasting your time .if the gas is out it must be vacuumed to boil off the moisture and get the air out .not worth it .besides that if the gas is gone theres a leak

Thanks for your input. I thought I'd save some pennies... I've also seen guys on social media doing these and I thought I'd be handy and do it. Unfortunately most of the guys are from abroad.

If you need to refill the refrigerant, it means there's a leak somewhere. This needs to be fixed before you refill. You'll be caught up in a cycle of constant refilling if you do not fix the leak.

the other thing is if its gotten air into it the drier should be changed and possibly oil added to the compressor .the oil and gas circulate through the pipes continuously and if its leaked some may have leaked out which will lead to oil starvation .

Just contact your local appliance reapair shop. They usually send someone out with the stuff needed to detect and repair the leak as well as put the correct pressure and oil into the system.

There is a small leak. I refill every second year aprox! It's just that I have never paid attention to the process. The guy could not find the leak exactly but said there is a slow leak. I have been postponing the replacement of the unit cause its generally old, almost 10yrs old. Now with the slower economy, I'm trying to see if I can stretch it again and delay the inevitable.

Thanks. Thus what I have been trying to avoid as the service is costly. If I cant DIY it'temporarily again, it will be more prudent to just bite the bullet and get a new unit.

the techie needs to put dye into the system and go over it with a black light or use a sniffer to find the leak .10yrs its still a baby.my Philips is 40 years young zero issues

Thanks. It doesnt kill to request a quote, maybe it would just cost me just an arm or we can swap...! Actually, the main reason I have always wanted to replace it is that it has those white plastic trays and out of ignorance I have been overloading them and when the meat starts to freeze it expanded and cracked them. It was too late when I finally realized what was cracking my freezer drawers..! Funny enough, I went to TECSA to get new drawers and they told me that the model has been discontinued.
I understand that DEFY brings up new model every 3months. It defies logic.
