Friday's hail storm basically caused my carport at work to collapse down onto the roof of my car. At this stage everything was fine - it was just the shade netting on my car roof with a big pile of hail on top.

When it came time to go home, I thought I could simply reverse out rather than dig out 100kg or so of hail from the top of the carport. The problem is, there must have been some bits of grit or something in the shade netting, as I now have a very large, very straight, very deep scratch on my car's roof, as well as a secondary scratch on the front right door frame.

I have been quoted R3k to repair it!!!

Subaru doesn't stock touch up paint, but I am thinking of an attempted home repair. Any advice?

Yeah, i would also like to know if there is anything i can use on minor scratches, have plenty!

ill never ever ever buy a black car again!

Ouch... That looks like a panel respray. :(

Yip, the entire roof will have to get done I reckon.

Cannot see from the pic but is that metallic paint? If not then you might get away with a dude that knows how to mix colours and blend it in.

It's metallic :(

Hmm... perhaps a nice racing stripe is in order :p

Seal the scratch with a clear spray and apply racing stripes, let the next owner deal with the scratch :D It is a Scoobie after all, a little scratch will be the least of the 2nd owners worries :p

I would definitely get the work insurance to pay for it...and yes...you couldn't have laid things out better for a rally stripe if you had done it on purpose!! :(

you dont want to spray just the scratch .... And if you do need to spraypaint, make sure its the entire roof. It just never comes right with metallic. Put a stripe. It is a scooby

Good luck with the company paying for the damage, I think its more your fault than theirs to be honest.
So when you approach them about it, be as vague as possible!
