Hi all. I know there's been similar posts on this, but they're either not up to date, or not what I'm looking for.
So I'm ideally looking for a DIY Smart Home Security package that allows for monitoring with some type of alarm when triggered. It should link up to a mobile app for push notifications, and ideally be remotely controllable. Importantly, there must not be any monthly fees, or the fees are optional for extra cloud storage, AND it must be wireless and easy to install (I'm renting, so cannot drill holes, etc.).
I've been Googling around recently, and found this setup: iSmartAlarm - https://www.ismartalarm.com/
It had everything I wanted: A hub linked to your phone for remote controlling, door, window and zone sensors, and an indoor camera that can track/record activity, and no monthly fees. However, just before buying I found out that they don't support South Africa, and so their mobile app is not available on the SA App store. In theory I could setup a US account or something, but don't really want to go that route.
Can anyone suggest a similar solution around R3,000 - R4,000 max? Potentially a smart camera that can track a large area (ie. will swivel around if it hears or sees movement), has night vision, can record to the cloud, and can be controlled via an app would work too.
A last resort would be really going DIY and doing something with a Raspberry Pi, but I'd rather buy something already made for the job.
