DL Speed dropped

so im on afrihost 384 uncapped

from last night to this morning
i noticed my download speed had dropped from around 30 kbps to 20kbps

any suggestions on what may be wrong?

throttling perhaps?

but at a previous rate of 30kbps i hardly think i would fall into the group of users that would be throttled?

also, is this (30 kbps) a reasonable speed to have for a 384 uncapped package?

Its ok but should be getting about 38 - 39kbps

I had same with afrihost uncapped was lower end of 30 something kbps
would really recommend going to mweb if you could much better speeds but if you could spend the little bit extra like i have get the 1Mbps uncapped from them with line difference is only about R220 you will really be please with it :)

I got those speeds with my 1Meg uncapped. I found that they like to throttle downloads from filesonic.

30kB/s is fine on an uncapped 384kbps line, but it should be above that. I normally got (when I had 384 line a few months ago) about 34-39kB/s, around there.

Have you done a speedtest? Do it and post the results here...
 
@nomad R220 more for just the isp or R220 with the line and the isp?

@markface here are the speed test reults at different times of the day...



 
Hmm, maybe it is throttling.
The top users are separated by line speed (they wouldn't compare a 4mbps user to a 384kbps user), so if you've been downloading 24/7 @ 30kB/s (which might be more if you're looking at this value from a torrent client or something), you could be in the top percentage of 384 users.

Then again, I could be wrong, lol

Have you asked Afrihost why you've suddenly dropped?
