DLC add-on query.

I started playing Witcher 3 and see there is a free add-on available.
I would like to know whether it can be installed during progress in the game or
must it be installed before a new game is started.

During progress install is fine, only place you need to go back to so far is White Orchard to get the first set of armor. Its at the vendor you saved with the first Griffon encounter, he is at the entrance of the town. Seems like the later dlc's are end game content. But I don't mind I started playing gwent so put all the quests on hold now & building up cards as I go.

Well I have not encountered a griffon yet. Just got my first skill point but am unable to move my selected skill across to the vacant slot using the mouse. I watched an in depth video on the skills tree but activating the skill still remains a mystery to me.
