I recently acquired a Dlink 2750u. The problem with the router is that it is dropping packets. I noticed that, while browsing the internet, some pages do not load. A simple reload of the page works fine. I decided to start some ping sessions from my PC, and noticed that some of the requests are timing out. I tried this to both local and international servers, which the same negative results.

Some ping results :

Code:

I am running Firmware Version: AF_1.65_R01 , which I believe is the latest version. My line is fine as my old Dlink 2540u worked without issue.

Any input would be appreciated

Lightning struck my Netgear router on Thursday and I also got a D-Link 2750u now. Don't know if it's related, but I had similar symptoms and just changed my Wi-Fi to g instead of n. Sorted everything out.

I had the router and had endless problems. I took it back and got a Netgear and my problems were solved.

That router is crap.

My best router that I use is my Asus which is a pure wireless router, I just use the Netgear for the ADSL connection.

Lightning struck my old D-Link router. Bought a new D-Link 2750u, Installed it and it loses internet connection every hour, have to restart it to get connection again. Did the reset thing, did not help. Sent it in for repairs, got it back with a "NFF" No Fault found. Hooked it up, same problem. Threw it in the hardware cupboard. Using my old D-Link router, works like a charm, although only 2 of the 4 Lan ports are working after the lighting strike.

Thanks for the responses guys. My 2750u does not lose connection or drop the wifi at all. In fact, its been pretty stable aside from the dropping of packets I mentioned.

Frikkenator --> I'll try changing the wireless network to g, but I need N in order to stream 1080p content to my media players.

I've done some further tests. The problem seems to only occur with Windows devices (or the iPad). The linux and Android devices pose no problems at all!

Windows 8 Desktop - some ping request failures
Windows 7 Desktop - some ping request failures
Windows 8 Laptop - some ping request failures
Windows XP Laptop - some ping request failures
iPad - some ping requests fail

Linux Microserver - no failures
Linux Netbook - no failures
Samsung Galaxy S3 - no failures
Asus Android Tablet - no failures

Does anybody have any clue why this is happening? It doesnt matter whether I connect the devices in question via LAN cable or WiFi.....the results are the same.

Strange - I also have the 2750U running AF_1.65_R01 and I have not experienced any issues over the last 6 months, either on N, G or two Ethernet ports I have hanging off of it. I have numerous Android + 1 iPhone, many Windows 7 connections and two DAP1155 running in AP mode connecting to two Ethernet enabled TV's - so far no packet loss or loss of sync has been experienced. It seems more stable than the Billion I was using. Works for me but disappointed to hear others are having issues with it.

Thanks for the responses guys

@Satguy - it certainly is a great router....wifi is strong and rock-solid.....internet connection never drops....its just this packet loss that is the deal breaker

Dualmaster - thanks for the link ...will give the newer FW a shot

BTW : I tried the router on my line with another ISP...same issue

I tried updating to 1.67, but got the error below

dlink_error.png

I tried the 1.66 firmware - same problem.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong here?

Is it a Telkom branded DSL-2750U? If so, then you'll need to get the firmware from Telkom...

No Pada - its not a Telkom branded router (strange enough though, a factory reset results in the default credentials being the telkom guest account!)

I have realised my mistake......was accidently trying to upload the firmware via the user config section. My bad. Will try again.

Thanks for the help

EDIT : I feel like such an idiot. The 1.67 worked fine. I'll test and let you guys know of the outcome *fingers crossed*

New firmware (1.67) applied. Makes no difference. :-( I still get random ping timeouts from my Windows machines.

Thanks for the assistance any, guys

Just reverted to using my Huawei 3G router. No packet loss at all from any pc running any OS. There is definitely something up with that dlink router. This rules out any issues on my network. I even tried a brand new POTS filter as a last attempt....made no difference.

I guess it's back to the supplier it goes....

Knowing my luck, this router will go back to dlink and they will say the are no problems with it.

Just tried a friend's router.......Same problem :-(

Looks like the issue is specific to my line.... Wonder if Telkom will be able to help with this problem.
