Hey guys, im hoping theres a network guru here.. I recently installed a dlink dir 615 onto our dlink dsl2500 router and everything is working perfectly.. Except for pidgin, it keeps timing out approximately every 10 min. I've been googleing for the last few days looking for solutions but haven't found anything. I'm fairly certain its NAT issue with the dir 615, i have tried open ports and creating a application rule for pidgin, no luck - course i may be doing something wrong - Has anyone had similar issues? Can anyone advise me how i can fix this?

#Only seems to be google talk (or google talk through pidgin) that has the problem.

Never heard of something like this.
If you wanted to find out what the issue was you would need more info to make a calculated assessment.
This seems to be an issue on the packet level.
Best Bet would be to install wireshark, capture only traffic to google(via pigin) then see where it breaks down.
Sounds like an application issue TBH, have you tried updating the 615 firmware have heard that 615 is a bit flaky at best anyway(with older firmwares)

Seem to have found the solution, so if anyone else has a similar problem...

I disabled UPnP and DHCP on the dlink 615 and plugged the lan cable from the dls2500u into a lan port not the internet port on the 615, making it into a generic switch. Everything seems to work fine now.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but I too am experiencing the same issue, only my clients' Skype application on all the computers, keep signing in/out (reconnecting) every few seconds, it's so fast, file downloads/uploads, skype calls, etc aren't interrupted.

But is really becoming irritating now.

I also have the same setup, DSL-2500u being used for the PPPoE, connected to a DIR-615 (latest firmware), the DIR is acting as the firewall, NAT, DHCP server, and WLAN access point. All security on the DSL-2500 has been switched off.
