Anyone else on here have one of these? I'm trying to find how to troubleshoot wireless speeds

I have one of those. Don't really use the wireless much. Only on my cellphone and netbook once in a while. What's the problem?

Hey cfvh600, i can't seem to find how to make the wireless network "hidden" so that its not broadcasting the ssid out

I will have a look for you when I get home tonight and get back to you on that.

I don't know if it's right but there is a "hide access point" tickbox under wireless/basic. Might be what you're looking for.

How the hell did i miss that one haha

Thanks man, working perfect now

How is your network performance btw?

Glad you found it. :-)

My network performance is good since I changed to the cables and upgraded the firmware from the d-link ftp site. How's yours going?

Thanks biometrics/cfvh600, will download the latest firmware tonight

My network performance is 2.5mb/s from the AC Ryan to the PC, but from my Notebook to the PC its just under 10mbs, not sure what else to try.

I have set it to Wireless N only but still cannot see why its not hitting higher speeds compared to the notebook

Will try an open network (currently using WPA2 security) to see if the speed jumps up

What firmware version did you guys take? My router is on 6.21 and the latest one I see on the FTP is V2.35 that came out in January ?

Thanks. I am really confused because of this inconsistencies in version numbers and I would like to have it running on the latest.
Either way, I am getting a DSL-2760U soon so if anyone is interested in a DSL-2740U let me know please.

The firmware .bin file I got from http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/ADSL/DSL-2740U/Firmware/ was DRU_DSL-2740U_2.35b373.bin and the resulting "System Info" page returns:

Model Name: DSL-2740U
Time and Date: 17.01.2000,04:51:44 Mon
Firmware Version: DRU_2.35

Now that I had a look there again, I see there's an update ... if I reply after this message, then the upgrade ....

So I loaded DRU_DSL-2740U_2.35b389.bin and it now reports:

Model Name: DSL-2740U
Time and Date: 1.01.2000,00:01:45 Sat
Firmware Version: DRU_2.35

Oh hang on, more info on the Maintenance/Firmware Update page:

Board ID: 96358GW
Software Version: DRU_2.35
Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-6.5
Wireless Driver Version: 4.174.64.12.cpe1.1

I have

Firmware Date: 2009.12.18-18:57:03
Board ID: AW4139B
Software Version: DRU_6.21
Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-102.6
Wireless Driver Version: 5.10.85.0.cpe4.402.0

This is bullcrud - can't wait to try out the new DSL-2760U I am getting tomorrow. The 2740U sounds pretty old to me.

* thread resurrect

can anyone comment on the wireless range on these?

Crap compared to newer routers. After D-Link I had TP-Link and now TOTO-Link, it is much better.
