Hello everyone ... on saturday telkom finally installed my ADSL line only to find out my telkom internet account has not been activated yet ... I quickly made a call to another ISP to see if I can't get a secondary account setup .... that was done pronto!!! However I could not gain access to the net ...

Can anyone who's got the Dlink - DSL 300T advise me on the settings I need to configure to gain access to the net ..... been waiting for 6 Weeks to have it installed and now that it's done I cant' use it!!!

Is it possible to disable the PPP loggin settings on the modem and have Windows do it? ..... ... getting a bit desperate here ... :D ... please assist.

Thanx in advance!!!!

Terms might vary but here is the basics.

Encapsulation: PPPoE
Multiplexing: LLC based
VPI: 8
VCI:35

Primary DNS: (from Telkom ISP)
Secondary DNS: (from Telkom ISP)

Fill in your login id and password and you should connect pronto.

And please check that your system is secured i.e NAT is enabled and all the ports are locked down properly.

Thanks tibby.dude , I finally got the modem working, after a very very long night, the funny thing is that it I could actually login via windows xp' PPP and the authentication would be successfull and would get a wan IP, but couldn't browse , I was so puzzled I tried to call my respective ISPs and even D-Link and none could figure out what the problem was .... when I tried to Dial-up using my 56K, it also would connect but not browse or .... I thought the problem lied wit the modem ... untill I decided to disable the NIC , thats when I could actually browse via my 56K connection .... OK it had to be something with OS .... I reinstalled XP and voila ....it worked .... can anyone explain what could have gone wrong?

Oh well ... all that matters is I can now connect and I'm happy :D ..

PEACE!!!!

There can be various explanations why your browser didn't help in the mission to get your internet working, but I know from the DSL-300T side you needed not to use the PPPoE connection type (as this is only used for testing the modem) but the bridge type connection. And afterwards creating a broadband dial up from your OS. It would have saved you a lot of :( and >_<.

Believe me when I say that's exactly what I did ... :D .... I would connect pefectly only that I could not browse ... ... and I tried via IE and our beloved Firefox yet I could not browse ..... oh well. That was weird.

Did you do the basics?
1) Default Gateway = IP DSL-300T on LAN adapter
2) DNS IP's assigned on LAN adapter
3) No Proxy running on browser.

Yebo Yes !!! ... rember I tried it on 2 different Web browsers IE and FireFox ... and the only time I could surf on even on the 56K modem was to remove the NIC .... that's odd ... remember I could get the WAN IP and but could not even update my Antivirus Software ..... It wasn't the 300T or my 56K clearly an OS problem.

I was away for a little while (training and enginering).
Did you come right with your issue?

No worries :D , ever since then my DSL-300T has been nothing but smooth sailing ... ;) ... That was a very weird problem but I got it sorted out when I re-installed my XP, meaning it was more of an OS problem . But everything is in order, thanks !!! .... :)
